Letter from the Principal
Stage 6 Subject Selection Night
It was wonderful to meet and talk to so many parents and students moving into Stage 6 courses next year at the recent Subject Selection Night. This is an important time in a student’s schooling journey to pause and prayerfully consider a pattern of study that best reflects their God-given gifts, interests, and post-school vocational goals. We are reminded of the biblical call to respect and honour each student’s faith and learning journey, trusting that “whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord” (Colossians 3:23). My thanks to the Head of Secondary and key-note speakers at this event, and to our dedicated Stage 6 staff who thoughtfully prepared displays and spent valuable time answering many questions.
National Policy Forum – Canberra
At the recent Christian Schools National Policy Forum, many Christian school leaders gathered to hear about the latest trends and movements in the political sphere that impact Christian schooling. As a rapidly growing sector in our nation, with many families choosing Christian education for their children, it remains a challenge and a calling to hold fast to each school’s Christian foundations and to be a salt and light in our communities (Matthew 5:13–16). At the heart of what we do at OCS is the message of the gospel, epitomised by God’s love shown to us in Christ Jesus. This compels us to teach with grace and truth, showing respect for all people as image-bearers of God (Genesis 1:27), and fostering a school environment shaped by this hope. We value your prayers as we continue to teach Christianly by singing songs of praise, reading the Bible, and faithfully praying for the students entrusted to our care.
News regarding departing staff
I‘m passing on some news regarding departing staff. Whilst it is indeed sad news for our school community, we are also joyful that these staff members have been given wonderful opportunities to continue to grow and develop in their God-given talents and vocation. We extend our heartful thanks to Michelle Howarth and Mariah Harris (Prep Assistant), Dylan Naveau (Teacher’s Aide), and Mel Naveau (Deputy Principal’s EA) for their valuable contributions to OCS. We are grateful for their willingness to be part of the OCS family and for the way they have faithfully served God through their roles. As they step into new seasons, we pray that God will continue to guide and bless them, trusting in His promise from Jeremiah 29:11: “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”

Deputy’s Report
Peter Pan Takes Flight This Weekend
We are delighted to invite you to attend our upcoming secondary musical production of Peter Pan, taking place this weekend at the Orange Civic Theatre. Our students have demonstrated exceptional commitment and creativity throughout the rehearsal process—dedicating countless hours to learning lines, music, choreography, and contributing to the technical and design elements of the show. Their enthusiasm and teamwork have been truly inspiring.
This production represents the culmination of months of hard work by both students and staff, and it is a celebration of the many talents within our school community. We are also deeply grateful to parents for your ongoing support—whether through transporting students, assisting with costumes, or encouraging your child’s participation.
We warmly encourage families to purchase tickets and join us for what promises to be a joyful, high-quality performance. Book your tickets here: https://www.ocs.nsw.edu.au/peter-pan-2025/

From the Head of Primary
Last week, our Stage 3 Debating Team hosted friendly matches against Kinross Wolaroi School and Orange Anglican Grammar. One of our teams walked away with a win, but more importantly, students gained valuable experience in public speaking, rebuttal skills and impromptu argument. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn, connect and compete. We look forward to the next round at KWS.
This week, our Primary Chess Teams will enjoy two exciting days of competition, with our school proudly acting as one of the hosts.
We’re excited to see our students rise to the challenge in what’s shaping up to be a great few days of strategic thinking and friendly rivalry.

Celebrating 20 Wonderful Years of Learning and Laughter!
This year marks a very special milestone for our Prep – 20 years of nurturing young minds, building friendships, and laying strong foundations for lifelong learning!
Since opening our doors in 2005, we’ve had the joy of watching hundreds of little ones grow, explore, and thrive in a safe, caring, and inspiring environment. None of this would have been possible without our dedicated staff, supportive families, and the curious, joyful children who make every day memorable.
Join us and spread the word of this exciting event to be celebrated on 19th September 2025. Stay tuned for throwback photos, and messages from past and present members of our Prep family.
Here’s to the past 20 years — and many more to come!
Message from the Chaplain
At Orange Christian School respect is more than good manners — it reflects the heart of Christ. It should show in how we speak, how we listen, and how we treat one another day by day and how we accept and celebrate each other’s differences.
From Prep to Year 12, every student, staff member, and family is part of a community where respect helps us grow together in faith and learning. As followers of Jesus, we are called to “love one another deeply, from the heart” (1 Peter 1:22). May our school be a place where respect is lived daily, God’s love is evident and together, challenges become opportunities.
Narnia Revealed
New Primary imaginative play area has been officially opened as of this morning!
Our new Primary imaginative play area “Narnia” was officially opened this morning by Primary School and Mr Choi. We hope this space is going to be loved and enjoyed by all of our students who seemed very excited (and cold!) to be a part of the opening ceremony!
Sport Spot
What a term it has been, where sport has been an integral part of OCS life, and it doesn’t look like stopping anytime soon.
This week we had 4 of our best runners compete at CIS Cross Country: Eloise Hickey Yr 4, Jacob Price Yr 5, Henry Kay Yr 7 and Caleb Reid Yr 9. All ran commendable times, but high praise must go to Jacob Price who placed 6th overall and earned a berth to July’s NSWPSSA Championships. Congratulations Jacob.
In Week 8 our Opens Men’s team will contest the CSSA Secondary Men’s Netball Championships in Penrith on Tuesday. Then our Stage 4 girls will head to PCYC on Wednesday to compete in the girls Orange Schools Netball Competition.
Our Athletics notes for Far West Zone Athletics will be coming out this week to all students who have progressed to this carnival to be held in Term 3 on August 6th. Please check your child’s bag for notes. Attached to these notes you will also find the events your child is in. Please keep this safe as we do not hand these out again. Remember spots on OCS transport to this event are limited and allocation of seats will be based off the submission of the online permission note.
It is important to remember to remind our children that although sport has kept us all busy and that it plays an essential part of our lives it should not let us lose our focus on God. Finding time to spend with God during this busyness is important if our children are to continue pursuing their goals.
I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.” (Psalm 16:2)
